About the church
A short walk from town and across the road from the Heritage Hotel
The quaint small Anglican Church in Jollies Pass Road was built in 1902. It has an Historic Places Trust B classification. The Church is a white red roofed building which has changed little since it was built, apart from the addition of a log burner and an accessible ramp. In 1993 stained glass windows depicting Gods work in Hanmer Springs, the light, the mountains, the forest and the strength of the land were added. Designed by local artist Roger Simpson, the windows are a memorial to long time residents Edith (Tiny) and Maidie Parsons. These are in addition to the sanctuary window which depicts the Epiphany Star and the coming of the Light of Christ into human experience. The simplicity of design enhances the beautiful wooden interior.
The Church is set in spacious grounds where of note are three Scarlet Oaks planted by the Galilee family to celebrate the safe return of their 3 sons from WWII.
The Church of Epiphany's long association with the now closed Queen Mary Hospital was important to staff and patients who attended services over the years.
You are welcome to use the Church for your wedding and we would love to show you around and talk with you.
